| Badlands National Park offers a very unique landscape experience. It is a place where much erosion has taken place and yet offers great photo opportunities. I have been priveledged to have visited this park 4 times and on one occasion, camped for several days. Although from a distance it doesnt look like it, Badlands National Park offers a wide variety of wildlife viewing. However, much of the main traffic areas of the park seem to offer little in the way of wildlife besides the prairie dog, you need to travel to the Sage Creek Wilderness area of the park that is quite remote. This area holds most of the population of Bison. But use caution when hiking, because one could be lurking around a corner hidden from eyesight and they will charge you of irritated. In addition, if you decide to back country camp as I did, do not setup camp on or near the buffalo trails lets you want an unexpected, uninvited guest. |
